Piper Shores Employee Auction Turns Unwanted Furniture into Funds for Local Charity

Proceeds From Employee Auction Donated to Project G.R.A.C.E

Scarborough, Maine, December 27, 2006 – PPiper Shores, Maine’s first and only lifecare retirement community, today announced that a donation was recently made to Project G.R.A.C.E, helping people in need in Scarborough. The donation was a result of a very successful employee auction recently held at Piper Shores. The auction featured home furnishings such as kitchen, living room and bedroom furniture.

“We were really surprised by the tremendous response we had to the silent auction,” said Andrea Killiard, Marketing Director at Piper Shores. “More than 30 employees participated and we were able to raise almost $1,500. As a group, the staff decided to donate half of the proceeds to charity and use the remainder to support some fun company events throughout the year.”

The weeklong auction included beds, dressers, tables, sofas, chairs, an entertainment center and artwork still in excellent condition.

“People from every department, including the dining room wait staff, food services, nurses and office management participated,” said Killiard. “The auction was a tremendous success and we were thrilled to be able to make a donation to Project G.R.A.C.E, helping them continue with their important work.”
