In early 2005 Piper Shores launched its Building Community effort as a way of engaging residents, Neighbor’s Circle wait list members and friends of Piper Shores in a series of social gatherings throughout the year.

Piper Shores strives to be nationally recognized as an innovative retirement community.

It will develop and continually assess senior services through a collaborative partnership among residents, managers and directors. Piper Shores aspires to be a leading community by seeking “best practices” in its industry in order to achieve excellence in its services and provide the highest quality of life possible for its residents.

As a charitable organization, offer a community that is affordable for a broad segment of the senior population.

Provide a continuum of independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care residences to promote the long-term physical, social and emotional well being of each resident.

Value and support the diverse nature of residents’ educational and cultural backgrounds by providing a variety of educational, artistic, and recreational programs.

Respect each resident’s individuality and right to privacy as incorporated in the Maine Residents Bill of Rights.

	1	Ensure that residents’ issues and ideas are thoughtfully recognized and incorporated into Piper Shores’ institutional planning, policy development and decision making.
